About the Programming Partner:

Victoria Guzman came to the practice of yoga through a dynamic growth process since college, where she began her learning foundation in the areas of kinesiology and the science of movement in choosing her career path as a physical therapist. The pairing of my yoga practice allowed her to build inner strength, find a place of solitude through movement, and build awareness through a time of stress and demand.

She has found growth as a student of yoga through obtaining my Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2011 to serve as a baseline, developing an understanding of intricacies of the construct of the human body in order to maximize the potential of the physical being. She wanted to connect this baseline of scientific knowledge to yoga-focused study initiated in 2017, through completion of a 200-hour yoga teacher training, in which she has put into practice by leading yoga classes combining functional movement and breath. The combination of her background in physical therapy and curiosity of movement has driven her dedication to providing an accessible movement practice to a diverse community.

Her classes include Vinyasa inspired flows incorporating longer pose holds, as well as breath to movement sequences. She focuses her practice on the idea that we are all made for yoga, we are all made for movement, and we all progress uniquely in a community of acceptance, trial, and exploration. She aims to encourage her students to move intentionally without the pressure of expectation or demand of an endpoint, but rather a fluid growth based on body and mind connection. She would like to break through perhaps traditional yoga stereotypes of the “most flexible” or “yoga body” perceptions, to provide a practice free of bias to those who may be beginning their practice, expand avenues of growth for seasoned athletes, and challenge the veteran yoga community under the overlying umbrella of inclusion.
